From "how much" to "how well"
The Overview tells you how much you've made. Performance & Analytics tells you how well you're trading, with metrics that reveal whether your strike selection and timing are actually working.
The metrics that matter
- Premium collected — income for the selected period.
- CSP assignment rate — how often your puts get assigned. High isn't necessarily bad on the wheel, but it tells you how aggressive your strikes are.
- Call-away rate — how often your covered calls get exercised.
- Avg capital deployed — the average dollars tied up backing your trades.
- Avg premium per trade — income efficiency per position.
- Avg DTE at entry — how far out you typically sell.
- Avg annualized return on capital — the headline efficiency number, normalized to a yearly rate.
- Avg delta at open — your typical risk/probability setting when you sell.
Compare across periods
Use the period tabs (YTD, MTD, a specific year, or All) and the Compare to prior period toggle to see whether you're improving. Each card shows the change versus the comparison period, so a rising annualized return or a falling assignment rate jumps right out.
What to do with it
- If annualized return is low, you may be selling too far OTM or too far out in time.
- If assignment/call-away rates are higher than you like, tighten your delta.
- Watch avg capital deployed to make sure you're not over-concentrated.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is annualized return on capital calculated?
It normalizes the premium you collected against the capital deployed and the days the trade was held, then scales it to a yearly rate — so a 2% return over 30 days shows as a much higher annualized figure. It lets you compare trades of different durations fairly.
Is a high assignment rate bad?
Not necessarily. On the wheel, getting assigned means buying a stock you wanted at a discount. The metric is there to show how aggressive your strike selection is so you can dial delta up or down intentionally.
