GEX Heatmap (MAXX)

Use Maxx GEX Heatmap for a strike × expiry dealer GEX structure map — walls, zone, net GEX by expiry — on /gex-heatmap or Stock Details → GEX Heatmap.

What it is

GEX Heatmap is the Maxx dealer-positioning workspace: a strike × expiration GEX matrix, key levels (price, call wall, put wall, zone/regime), and net GEX by expiry with a DTE range slider. It is separate from free Strike GEX (open-interest Black-Scholes estimate by strike).

  • Free Strike GEX remains on /gex and Stock Details → Strike GEX

Who can use it

Requires Maxx. Other plans see a blurred preview and upgrade path; guests sign in first. Free Strike GEX on /gex and Stock Details → Strike GEX stays available without Maxx.

How to use it

  1. Open /gex-heatmap (More → GEX Heatmap) or a ticker’s Stock Details → GEX Heatmap.
  2. Search any optionable ticker. Last symbol is remembered on the full page.
  3. Read Key levels: price, call wall, put wall, zone — then Net GEX by expiry.
  4. Use the DTE slider to show/hide heatmap columns by days to expiration; switch Net / Call / Put for cell values.
  5. Optionally enable Auto-update to refresh numbers every 5 seconds (pauses when the tab is hidden).
  6. Use the spot line on the grid to see where price sits relative to stacked gamma.

Tips

  • The grid is a structure map (where gamma sits by strike and expiry), not an intraday minute tape.
  • Strike GEX on /gex is educational open-interest math; Maxx Heatmap is UW dealer-positioning by strike × expiry.
  • Pair with Option Flow or Dark Pool when you care about aggression vs positioning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is GEX Heatmap the same as free Strike GEX?

No. Free /gex (and Stock Details → Strike GEX) is an open-interest GEX estimate by strike. GEX Heatmap is Maxx-only strike × expiry dealer GEX with walls and net GEX by expiry.

Why is my ticker empty?

The heatmap needs a latest strike × expiry snapshot from live ingest. Illiquid names or a cold session can show empty until Unusual Whales has published rows for that symbol.

Do I need Maxx for Stock Details GEX?

No for the Strike GEX tab. The separate GEX Heatmap tab (and /gex-heatmap) requires Maxx.
