Dark Pool tape (MAXX)
Read off-exchange equity prints on /dark-pool and Stock Details — notional, size, NBBO context, and venue for Maxx.
What it is
Dark Pool shows off-exchange equity prints (TRF / ADF), not options trades. It is a separate Maxx surface from Option Flow.

Who can use it
Dark Pool requires Maxx (same entitlement as Option Flow). Other plans see a blurred preview and upgrade path; guests sign in first.
How to use it
- Open /dark-pool or a ticker’s Dark Pool tab.
- Filter by min notional, min size, and session date (default notional floor is $100K so the tape stays readable).
- Read each print: time, symbol, price, size, notional, NBBO bid/ask, vs NBBO (AA / ASK / MID / BID / BB), and venue.
- During RTH the tape polls for new prints when you are on today’s session.
Tips
- Dark Pool is equity flow — it will not show call/put premiums or Net Flow charts.
- Use Option Flow / Unusual Activity when you care about options aggression; use Dark Pool for large off-lit stock prints.
- On Stock Details the symbol is locked; use the market page to scan many tickers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dark Pool the same as Option Flow?
No. Option Flow is the live options tape. Dark Pool is off-exchange equity prints. Both require Maxx and share the same API auth, but the data and columns are different.
Why don’t I see every print?
The UI defaults to a $100K minimum notional so the tape stays useful. Lower Min notional to Any or $50K to see smaller prints. Ingest itself does not floor size/premium.
What does vs NBBO mean?
We compare the print price to the contemporaneous NBBO bid/ask: AA (above ask), ASK, MID, BID, or BB (below bid). If quotes are missing, the cell shows —.
