Broker Sync: Connect, Refresh & Missing Trades
Connect a supported broker with read-only access, re-sync stale data, fix missing positions, and use manual portfolios for unsupported brokers.
What broker sync does
Broker sync auto-imports your options positions, equity holdings, cash balance, and transaction history into the Trade Tracker. Connections are read-only — Wheel Strategy Options can view data to build analytics, but cannot place, modify, or cancel trades at your broker.
Broker auto-import is a Pro or Ultra feature. You can still use the Trade Tracker for free with manual trade entry.
Connect your brokerage
- Open Trade Tracker (
/trade-tracker-v2). - Go to Brokerage Connection in the sidebar (or click Connect brokerage from Overview).
- Choose Auto Import Trades.
- Sign in through the secure connection flow and authorize read-only access.
- Select which account(s) to import — each connected account becomes its own portfolio.
See the full walkthrough: Connecting a Brokerage.
Supported brokers change over time. Check the live list on Supported Brokers before connecting.
Re-sync when data looks stale
Synced accounts refresh automatically, but prices or positions can lag if your broker was slow to report or the connection timed out.
Try this order:
- Hard refresh the Trade Tracker page.
- Return to Brokerage Connection and trigger a re-sync (or disconnect and reconnect if the UI offers it).
- Confirm you selected the correct sub-account (IRA vs taxable, etc.).
- Wait a few minutes — some brokers batch updates after market close.
Trades or positions missing after sync
Missing data usually comes from one of these causes:
Wrong account selected
If you have multiple accounts at the same broker, only the accounts you authorized appear. Revisit Brokerage Connection and confirm every account you trade options in is checked.
Position type not imported yet
Most listed equity options and stock holdings sync reliably. Complex structures (some spreads, expired positions beyond history windows, or very new trades) may take an extra sync cycle to appear.
Broker not supported
If your broker isn't on the Supported Brokers list, use a manual portfolio instead:
- Create a new portfolio from the portfolio selector.
- Add trades with Add trade using your broker's fill details.
- Keep synced and manual portfolios side by side — All Portfolios rolls everything up.
Recently closed trades
Closed trades appear in History and feed the Income Calendar. If History looks empty, widen the date filter — the default view may show a recent window only.
Multi-account setups
Many wheel traders run separate accounts (e.g., taxable vs IRA, or multiple brokers). Each connected brokerage account imports as its own portfolio with its own color in the sidebar. Switch between them, or select All Portfolios for combined metrics.
If you manage a household or advisor structure with many accounts, connect each one explicitly rather than expecting a single connection to merge them.
Mix manual and synced portfolios
You don't have to choose one method. Common pattern:
- Sync supported brokers for hands-off updates
- Manual entry for an unsupported broker, paper trading, or trades you want to model separately
Manual portfolios never overwrite synced data — they live alongside each other.
When to contact support
Contact us if:
- Connection succeeds but zero positions import after two re-sync attempts
- You see duplicate portfolios after reconnecting the same account
- A supported broker returns an authorization error every time
Include your broker name, account type (taxable/IRA), and whether the issue is missing open positions, closed history, or both.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is broker sync safe? Can WSS trade my account?
Connections are read-only. We can view positions and transactions to populate the Trade Tracker, but we cannot place, modify, or cancel orders at your brokerage.
Why are some trades missing after I connected?
Check that you authorized the correct sub-account, re-sync from Brokerage Connection, and widen the History date range for closed trades. Unsupported brokers require manual entry in a separate portfolio.
Do I need Pro to connect a brokerage?
Yes — broker auto-import is included with Pro and Ultra. Free users can still log trades manually in the Trade Tracker.
Can I connect multiple brokerage accounts?
Yes. Each account you authorize imports as its own portfolio. Use All Portfolios in the sidebar to see combined metrics across accounts.
My broker isn't supported. What should I do?
Create a manual portfolio and add trades by hand using the Add trade button. Check Supported Brokers periodically — we add brokers over time.
